Joe Campbell is General Manager – Concrete (West) at Hillhouse Group, responsible for overseeing operational performance, production and delivery across the Group’s ready-mix concrete and block operations in the West of Scotland.
Joe’s career with the business spans more than 30 years, having joined the Group in May 1994 as a trainee steel fixer. His progression through the company reflects a hands-on understanding of the industry and a long-standing commitment to the business, having worked across manufacturing, site operations and concrete production throughout his career.
During his early years with Hillhouse, Joe progressed through roles including batching plant operator, shuttering joiner for precast stairs and factory foreman, spending over a decade within the precast operation. This experience provided him with a strong technical and operational foundation across manufacturing processes and team leadership.
Joe later transferred into site installation, gaining specialist training as a slinger/signaller and appointed person for mobile and tower crane operations. His work took him across projects throughout Scotland and Northern England, from the Isle of Lewis and St Andrews to Carlisle. During this time, he was involved in major regeneration developments including the Gorbals, Hutchesontown and Oatlands regeneration projects from their earliest phases.
In 2020, Joe moved into the ready-mix concrete and blocks division as Assistant Operations Manager, developing experience across all aspects of modern batching and operational systems before progressing to Operations Manager and subsequently General Manager.
Joe also played a leading role in the successful delivery of the new Glasgow London Road concrete plant, overseeing the project from CDM planning through to commissioning and full operation in September 2024. Since then, the operation has supported the supply of ready-mix concrete and blocks to major projects including the Sneddon Law, Sorbie Ardrossan and Mill Rig wind farms, as well as the Largs sea wall regeneration works.
As General Manager, Joe combines extensive practical experience with a strong understanding of operations, logistics and customer delivery. He remains focused on maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency and reliability across the business.
