As construction of Edinburgh Asphalt continues at Soutra Mains Quarry, every milestone brings the project closer to supporting customers across Edinburgh, the Lothians, the Borders and the wider east of Scotland.
But while the scale of the investment is immediately visible, it is the detail behind the design that will ultimately shape how the plant performs.
In our latest project update, Asphalt Production Manager Zander Calderwood takes viewers on a walk-through of the new facility, explaining how the plant has been designed to support efficient production, consistent quality and dependable customer service.
Having been involved in the development of three new asphalt plants during his career with Hillhouse Group, Zander brings practical experience to every stage of the project. Throughout the video, he explains how materials move through the production process, from the cold feed bins and RAP system to the dryer drum, screening, mixer, hot storage and load-out facilities.
