Joe Campbell Marks 32 Years with Hillhouse Group

This month, Hillhouse Group is proud to celebrate a significant milestone as Joe Campbell marks 32 years with the business.

Joe joined the company in May 1994 as a trainee steel fixer and, over more than three decades, has progressed through a wide range of operational and leadership roles across the Group. Today, he serves as General Manager – Concrete (West), overseeing ready-mix concrete and block operations across the West of Scotland.

Joe’s career journey reflects not only his own hard work, commitment and adaptability, but also the long-standing culture within Hillhouse of developing people from within and creating opportunities for progression throughout the business.

During his early years with the Group, Joe worked across the precast operation, progressing through roles including batching plant operator, shuttering joiner and factory foreman. He later moved into site installation work, gaining specialist training in crane operations as a slinger/signaller and appointed person, contributing to projects across Scotland and Northern England.

Over the years, Joe has been involved in a number of major developments, including regeneration projects in the Gorbals, Hutchesontown and Oatlands, building extensive operational and technical experience across both manufacturing and construction environments.

In 2020, Joe transitioned into the ready-mix concrete and blocks division as Assistant Operations Manager, later progressing into Operations Manager and subsequently General Manager. During this time, he has played a key role in strengthening operations across the division and supporting major projects throughout the West of Scotland.

One of Joe’s most significant achievements in recent years was leading the successful delivery of the new Glasgow London Road concrete plant, overseeing the project from CDM planning through to commissioning and full operation. Since becoming operational, the plant has supported the supply of materials to projects including the Sneddon Law, Sorbie Ardrossan and Mill Rig wind farms, as well as the Largs sea wall regeneration works.

Reflecting on his career with the Group, Joe commented:

Hillhouse is a fantastic company to work for. Over the years, I’ve seen many people progress through the business into management and leadership roles, and there has always been a strong culture of developing and promoting from within.

Joe’s story is one of many across Hillhouse Group. The business is proud to have a large number of long-serving employees across all areas of the organisation, with many individuals building lifelong careers within the company. That continuity, experience and loyalty continue to play an important role in the strength of the business today.

Craig Kirkland, Commercial Director of Hillhouse Group, commented:

Joe’s 32 years of service is a tremendous achievement and reflects the commitment and experience he brings to the business every day. His progression through the company is also a great example of the opportunities available within Hillhouse for people who are willing to work hard, develop their skills and grow with the business. We’re grateful for Joe’s contribution over many years and look forward to his continued success.

Congratulations to Joe on reaching this outstanding milestone, and thank you for your continued contribution to Hillhouse Group.
