Shovel / Quarry Operative

Hillhouse Quarry Group is a family-owned business operating throughout Scotland. The company is a major supplier of aggregates, Asphalts, ready-mix concrete, concrete products and operates road surfacing and civil engineering divisions.

We have a vacancy for a loading shovel /quarry operative to join our team at our Hillhouse Quarry site in Troon, Ayrshire where you will be reporting to the site manager and become part of our operational production team.

The shovel operator will work to ensure that all duties including loading hoppers, crushers and screeners, and external and internal trucks with all our crushed aggregates are carried out safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• To work safely to ensure the safety of themselves and others on site.
• Operate a loading shovel daily. This will include the maintenance and care of the machine, including daily pre-start checks.
• Work and communicate as part of a team within a busy site loading single sized products onto our large fleet of trucks.
• Moving and stocking our products internally.

Skills & Experience:

• Hold a valid Ticket for operations of a loading shovel (Preferred MPQC blue card).
• Experience in Quarrying and loading essential due to busy environment.
• Consideration will be given to any candidate that has experience but doesn’t have valid ticket.
