Hillhouse Quarry Group Ltd is a family-owned business operating throughout Scotland. The company is a major supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, concrete products and operates road surfacing and civil engineering divisions.

We are seeking a time-served (or equivalent experience) Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our team. This is a critical role focusing on the maintenance and repair of heavy processing plant machinery. You will be responsible for ensuring production efficiency through proactive inspections and rapid breakdown response.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of working independently while integrating seamlessly into a small, dedicated maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Routine & Planned Maintenance: Carry out scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy processing equipment.
• Breakdown Response: Rapidly identify and diagnose mechanical issues to minimise downtime and return plant to production.
• Conveyor Systems: Full maintenance of conveyors, including bearings, drums, rollers, gearboxes, guards, and skirting.
• Crushers & Screens: Assist with replacement of crusher wear parts, screen mat replacements, oil changes, and hose repairs.
• Technical Tasks: Occasional minor fabrication and welding work; basic troubleshooting of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Safety & Compliance: Work strictly within Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines, including Risk Assessments and Permits to Work.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Experience: Time-served (or equivalent experience) as a Mechanical Fitter.
• Specialism: Previous experience with Heavy Processing Plant machinery would be preferred.

Certifications (training given if required):

• Experience working at height (MEWPs/Genie Boom).
• Experienced in lifting and slinging activities.
• Telehandler license (preferred).

Skills:

Strong diagnostic skills and a proactive attitude toward safety.
The ability to weld would be advantageous, but not essential.

Working Hours & Flexibility:

Standard Shift:

• Mon–Thu: 06:45 – 17:00
• Friday: 06:45 – 16:00

Weekend Coverage: Every second weekend if required (Sat: 06:45 – 12:00 | Sun: 07:30 – 15:00).

Flexibility: Candidates must be flexible to cover breakdowns and holiday periods as needed.
