Hillhouse Group is currently looking to recruit experienced Heavy Plant Engineers / Mobile Fitters to join our team.
We have opportunities available for mobile fitters based from our Viewfield Workshops in Fife, covering a range of Hillhouse Group sites. 
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled plant engineers with experience working on heavy plant, quarrying equipment, asphalt plants, concrete plants, screeners and crushers. The successful candidates will play an important role in keeping our operations running safely, efficiently and reliably.

The Role

The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, servicing, inspections, fault finding and repairs on a wide range of heavy plant and fixed equipment across Hillhouse Group sites.
This will include mobile and static plant used within quarrying, asphalt, concrete and contracting operations. The role will involve travelling between sites, responding to breakdowns, supporting planned maintenance schedules and working closely with site teams to minimise downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out maintenance, servicing and repairs on heavy plant and equipment.
  • Working on screeners, crushers, concrete plants, asphalt plants and associated equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs to reduce operational downtime.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with site and business requirements.
  • Responding to breakdowns across Hillhouse Group sites.
  • Completing inspections and ensuring equipment is maintained to a safe and reliable standard.
  • Working closely with workshop, quarry, asphalt, concrete and site teams.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed, parts used and any further work required.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Supporting continuous improvement in plant reliability, safety and performance.


The Candidate

The successful candidates should have previous experience working as a Heavy Plant Engineer, Plant Fitter, Mobile Fitter, Maintenance Engineer or similar.
Experience within quarrying, asphalt, concrete, construction, civil engineering, waste, recycling or heavy industrial environments would be highly beneficial.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant and equipment.
  • Knowledge of screeners, crushers, asphalt plants, concrete plants or similar fixed plant.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to maintenance and repair work.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and safe working practices.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when working across sites.
  • Flexibility to travel between Hillhouse Group locations as required.
  • A relevant mechanical, plant maintenance or engineering qualification would be advantageous, although applications will also be considered from candidates with strong practical experience.
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
