We are seeking an accomplished Civil Project Manager with a minimum of 15 years’ industry experience to lead and deliver complex highways and streetscape projects. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing high-value civil engineering schemes from inception through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will play a pivotal role in stakeholder engagement, contract management under NEC, and the successful coordination of multidisciplinary teams in live highway environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning, delivery, and close-out of major streetscape and public realm projects

Manage projects under NEC contracts (ECC), ensuring full compliance and proactive contract administration

Oversee programme, cost control, risk management, and quality assurance

Coordinate with local authorities, utilities, designers, subcontractors, and stakeholders

Manage site teams, consultants, and supply chain partners

Ensure all works comply with highways standards, health & safety regulations, and environmental requirements

Provide strong commercial awareness, including change control and compensation events

Mentor junior project managers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Requirements

Minimum 15 years’ experience in civil engineering project management

Proven track record delivering highways, streetscape, and public realm works

Strong working knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts

Experience working in live highway environments and urban settings

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Strong commercial and contractual awareness

Relevant civil engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)

CSCS and SMSTS (or equivalent)

Desirable

Experience working directly with local authorities

Experience working directly in the private sector

Strong understanding of traffic management and utility coordination
