Lesley Provan joined Hillhouse Group in 2007, initially taking on a six-week temporary contract through an agency as an Accounts Assistant at Troon Quarry. What began as a short-term role quickly developed into a long-standing career with the business, and Lesley was kept on after the initial contract before being offered a full-time permanent position within the Contracts division.
At that time, the Contracts team was based at Troon Quarry, where Lesley worked across administration and accounts. While continuing in her role, she completed a degree in Business Management in 2008 and later went on to complete a degree in Quantity Surveying. This supported her progression into a Quantity Surveyor position, a role she held for around seven years.
Lesley then moved into the role of Commercial Manager, where she spent approximately 12 years managing the commercial side of the Contracts business. Her responsibilities covered a wide range of areas, including accounts, subcontractor management, tender production, client relationships and close liaison with operational teams to support the coordination and delivery of projects.
In this role, Lesley also managed a team of Quantity Surveyors and the Purchase Ledger team, reporting directly to the Contracts Director. Her experience across finance, commercial management, tendering and project support has given her a detailed understanding of the Contracts division and the wider needs of its clients and teams.
As Head of Commercial for HG Contracts, Lesley now takes on a more strategic role, supporting the continued growth and development of the division. Her focus is on strengthening commercial processes, supporting sustainable growth and ensuring the commercial function continues to work closely with operations as the business develops.
With a career built from the ground up within Hillhouse Group, Lesley brings strong commercial knowledge, long-standing business experience and a clear understanding of the people, systems and relationships that support successful project delivery.
When I first came to Hillhouse, I expected it to be a short temporary role, so I never imagined it would become the career it has. I’ve been fortunate to learn the business from the ground up, from accounts and administration through to quantity surveying and commercial management. That experience has given me a real understanding of how every part of the Contracts division connects. In my current role, I’m focused on supporting the continued growth of the division while making sure we keep the strong commercial foundations, relationships and teamwork that have helped us get to where we are.
