Adam Rhind is Quarry Manager at Lomond Quarry, responsible for leading quarry operations, production performance, safety and the continued development of the site.
Adam began his career in 2008 with Tillicoultry, starting as a labourer at an asphalt plant before progressing to plant operator. During this early stage of his career, he gained hands-on experience across asphalt, ready-mix concrete production and mobile crushing operations, building a strong practical understanding of materials production from the ground up.
After around seven years at operative level, Adam moved into quarry management, taking on an Assistant Manager role at a hard rock quarry. This provided the foundation for a career that would later take him into a number of senior quarry management roles across major international operations.
Adam went on to work with Stevin Rock in the United Arab Emirates at Khor Khwair, one of the world’s largest quarry operations, producing around 60 million tonnes of material per year. As Production Manager, he oversaw quarrying operations for chemical grade limestone and armour stone, including material supplied for artificial island developments in the Gulf, most notably the Hail and Ghasha project for ADNOC.
He later moved to Norway with Bontrup at Bremanger Quarry, a large hard rock quarry producing approximately 4.5 to 5 million tonnes per year. In this role, Adam held full responsibility for quarry operations and shipping through the quarry dock, covering production, safety, health and environment, integrated management systems, HR, training and maritime regulations.
Before joining Hillhouse Group, Adam also worked at Glensanda as part of the senior management team, serving as Quarry Manager for around 18 months. Across these roles, he has developed extensive experience in large-scale quarry operations, international infrastructure supply and the management of complex, high-output sites.
Throughout his career, Adam has been involved in a number of major international projects, including artificial island construction in the Middle East and wider infrastructure developments. A particular career highlight was securing a ten-year partnership agreement in the Middle East worth $100 million, helping provide long-term commercial stability for the business.
Adam joined Hillhouse Group in 2026 as Quarry Manager at Lomond Quarry. He was attracted to the business by its reputation as a growing, family-owned company with strong values, a positive reputation in the sector and a clear commitment to supporting its people.
Since joining, Adam has been impressed by the people across the Group, the degree of trust and autonomy given to managers, and the support, guidance and infrastructure available to help sites perform well.
Reflecting on his role, Adam comments:
Hillhouse stood out to me as a growing family business with a strong reputation and a clear commitment to its people. Since joining, I’ve found a good balance of autonomy, support and accountability, which creates the right environment to run a quarry safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
