Hillhouse Group is a family-owned business operating throughout Scotland. The company is a major supplier of aggregates, asphalt, readymix concrete, concrete products, road surfacing and civil engineering services to the construction industry and civil engineering sectors.

We are looking to expand our team and we are seeking a multi-skilled Asphalt Plant Operative to work at our Central Asphalt Plant,  Burrowine Moor Quarry, Alloa. The role will be split between the integrated plant/weighbridge office and the loading shovel and will include general plant/site maintenance. This role will include you to be able to travel to other sites across the Central belt when and if required.

We are looking for a skilled operative who is already competent in key areas but who is also prepared to learn additional skills. The successful individual must have experience in the asphalt/quarrying industry.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Operate within the Company’s Health & Safety Policy.
Ensure safe working practices are adhered to and that all work is carried out in accordance with company policies.
Complete mobile plant daily inspection log and report to Chargehand any defects.
Ensure asphalt plant start up and batching processes are followed.
Verify delivery notes against the requested material order.
Stockpile of constituent materials to ensure non-contamination of adjacent stockpiles.
Monitor and report on aggregate, bitumen, limestone filler, fibre and fuel stock levels daily.
Carry out sampling and visual inspections of asphalt mixes.
Carry out basic plant/equipment maintenance eg greasing.
Ensure good housekeeping practices are adhered to.
Take an active role in the site’s SHE meetings.
Ensure all safety incidents, including near hits, are reported to the Chargehand immediately.
Ensure that all the required PPE is worn correctly and is in good condition.
Spillage Control – reporting any environmental incidents and help with any investigation reports.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as determined by the Asphalt Plant Chargehand.

Person Profile

Must have experience within the asphalt/quarrying industry.
Possession of the certification to operate a loading shovel would be ideal, however training will be given.
Must be computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft 365.
A confident individual who is able to work within a team-based environment as well as working autonomously.
Should have a good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
Full UK driving license.
