Liam Shepherd is Contracts Director at Hillhouse Group, leading the contracting division with responsibility for operational performance, commercial delivery and long-term strategic growth.
Liam’s career with Hillhouse began in 2008 when, aged 16, he joined the precast division as a trainee steel fixer. From the outset, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and a clear ambition to develop. He progressed through a number of supervisory roles before transitioning into a Trainee Quantity Surveyor position, supported by the business. He went on to complete a degree in Quantity Surveying, strengthening both his technical knowledge and commercial understanding.
Following his qualification, Liam moved into the contracting division, where he held senior operational roles including Surfacing Manager and, later, General Manager. In 2022, he took on leadership of the division during a period of significant change. He played a central role in establishing new organisational structures, stabilising operations and building a cohesive, high-performing team aligned around clear standards of safety, quality and delivery.
Under Liam’s leadership, the contracting division has delivered a number of major infrastructure projects across Scotland, including the Cadger Brae Roundabout scheme and A1 and A8 carriageway resurfacing works in Edinburgh. He has also overseen the strategic expansion of the civils department, including the ongoing delivery of a £4 million contract at North Hanover Street.
As Contracts Director, Liam continues to focus on sustainable growth, operational excellence and strengthening client relationships. He is committed to ensuring the division has the people, plant and expertise required to deliver complex infrastructure projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
Reflecting on his journey, Liam values the culture of development within Hillhouse:
Hillhouse has invested significantly in me over the years. I’m proud to be in a position where I can drive value for the business and its people in return.

Liam’s progression within the company reflects both his personal commitment and Hillhouse Group’s long-standing belief in developing talent from within.
